Band Policy 2000-2001


1. This band will build its foundation on an honor system.  Members are expected to display integrity, respectability, trustworthiness and responsibility.

2. Members of the band will be treated equally.

3. As a member of this band, you will respect yourself, each other, and all other school(s') organizations.

4. An unexcused absence from a performance will result in an appropriate adjustment to the grade with an appropriate opportunity to make up lost points.

5. Each band member is responsible for meeting the appearance requirements of inspections.  Appearance offenses include : Exaggerated makeup (excluding drum majors and majorettes), dirty pants, scuffed shoes, jewelry of any kind except simple studded earrings for the upper lobe, hair hanging below the uniform collar, nail polish, chewing gum, a dirty instrument, dirty batons, and face not cleanly shaven.  Socks must be worn so skin is not visible.  Section leaders and officers are in charge of inspections before each performance.

6. There is to be no one other than band members and chaperones in the band area with the exception of the third quarter when band alumni may visit.

7. Stay in full uniform (half off is completely off).  Necks may be unsnapped except for performances.

8. Members are excused for concession privileges during the third quarter.  Band members must be on the grass of the end zone by the fourth quarter buzzer.  If the buzzer does not account for all members, the entire band looses privileges for the next game.  NO band members are to be in the stands at any time !!!

9. Missing the bus is considered an unexcused absence.

10. You must be in school at least a half day of the performance date (from fourth period on) to participate in said performance, except if the absence is school related.

11. The use of alcohol or drugs of any form while at a band/school function is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion from the band.  Tobacco is not permitted at any band function (Especially in uniform).

12. There will be no talking during attention (including pride drill).  If caught, the offender will loose third quarter concession privileges and/or apologize to the band.

13. And band member who is going to be absent from a rehearsal is required to notify Mr. Brown.

14. Band members are not to put on any public form of affection while in uniform.   Exception : Holding hands.

15. No foul language or other unacceptable behavior including fighting or the above stated offences in the policy (Especially in uniform).

16. Be punctual to all band related functions; on time is considered late.

17. Unexcused tardiness to band during school will result in an apology to the full band and loss of early lunch privileges for a time determined by the director.

18. Officers and the director may make any necessary changes to this policy throughout the school year.

19. Food and/or drink is prohibited in the band room.
